Day 15- a little dance and theatre!

Day 15:
Today went by pretty fast in class. We got to watch a movie and just practice for our skits next week. Its kind of fun being able to act out parts of the books we read and definitely helps in understanding what happened in the story.

After class we had more homework we needed to finish, along looking for places to stay during our trip. Ugh, I feel like we don’t have enough time in a day because soon after lunch and before we even knew it, it was time for dance! There was hardly anyone in class today, probably due to the heat. But we learned the second part of the Sevillano dance (there are 4 total components/parts to it). It was pretty basic steps that weren’t too difficult, until we had to turn and face our partners. Jenny and I could not figure out the right way to go or which foot to start with for the life of us. It was quite the conundrum.

Right after class ended, we made our way to the other side of town. We were seeing a play/going to the theatre. It was at the Centro Cultural Santa Clara, which is also a convent! The name of the show that we saw was Santa Clara, Leyenda de Sevilla. The setting was in a convent, and consisted of 5 nuns and a priest. The whole story begins because the government wants to close down the convent and use it for political purposes. But the nuns came up with the idea to start a theatre in the convent and use the admissions to help keep the convent open. Each scene represented different stories or legends of people that lived in Seville. The show started around 10:30pm and we didn’t get home till almost 1am since it was on the opposite side of town; we had to take a taxi home.
